It’s a rule that must be in that one definitive Valentine’s Day playbook: thou shall take thy date to dessert.

Once you and your partner are done indulging in steak and wine and soaking in some restaurant ambience, it’s time for a sweet nightcap. Bonifacio Global City is home to a wealth of dessert destinations that will suit every budget and preference in taste. Its rich selection will not only spare you from excruciating traffic (dining establishments are a stone’s throw away from each other), but also help you avoid cramped spaces with its green urban parks and walkways that reek of nature and good ol’ romance.

Let’s see what’s in store in the sweet-tooth department this February 14.

Sugar Factory in Shangri-La at The Fort
Unit GF5, Shangri-La at the Fort
3rd Avenue corner 30th Street
BGC Taguig City

The marriage of hip and fancy takes the form of Las Vegas-born American brasserie Sugar Factory, which boasts the unique concept of being a candy store and restaurant by day, and a hip bar by night. It’s a treat for lovers of all ages with its sweet and savory selection, from salads and burgers to pancakes and mouthwatering milkshakes. Alcohol-laced smoking candy goblets also prove Instagram-worthy with candy, chocolate, popcorn, and other sweet decorations.

On Feb. 14, enjoy your date night here with a live acoustic performance by Lee Grane, or drop by after dinner and order the Valentines Smooch Martini for your main squeeze.

Passion by Gerard Dubois

The Philippine flagship store of Swiss-born pastry chef Gerard Dubois – known for his restaurants in Hong Kong – is a dreamy boulangerie featuring brightly lit interiors, flower-adorned fences, and seemingly infinite rows of European breads, pastries, and confectionery. Try their macarons, sweet tarts, exquisite cakes, gelato, or mocktails for a no-fail dessert fare, or simply marvel at the lovely setting with your cup of after-dinner coffee.

But seriously, who wouldn’t try to impress their date with their Raspberry and White Chocolate Cake (P188), Valentine’s Cake Loaf made of pink sweet nothings, or Mango Mont Blanc (P198)? It’s a surefire treat that your special someone surely won’t mind packing on the V-day calories.

La Creperie
Forbes Town Center
Burgos Circle Taguig City

Give your date the gift of a French creperie experience with La Creperie. From the founder of The Big Chill chain of juice bars, it aims to serve the regional flavors of Parisian and Breton creperies in Manila.

Marvel over their authentic French galettes, or open-faced crepes made of 100 percent buckwheat flour, cooked golden brown, thin, and crisp at the edges. Choose crepe combinations that are familiar to the ear and palate, such as Apple Crisp a la Mode and Strawberry Mango Jubilee. Complete the sweet journey with luxury tea from TWG, as well as the restaurant’s proprietary line of Chocolat Chaud or hot chocolate.

Lartizan Boulangerie Française
Serendra
26th corner McKinley Parkway
BGC Taguig City
(+632) 511 7866

Sure, there isn’t a shortage of artisanal French bakery, restaurant, and tea salon places in the metro, but Lartizan retains a charm all its own. It provides an intimate space, thoughtful details like rose-colored crystal chandeliers and other elegant European touches, and a menu that is a strictly decadent affair.

Get the Red Wine Baguette as a starter for a savory meal, or tackle this dessert business right away with the rich assortment of pastries including Mini Chocolate Éclair, Mini Fruit-Filled Pate-a-Choux, Parisian Macaron, and Mini Fruit Tartlet. Other enticing choices include Sansrival, Italian Slow Roast, or the mysterious Marco Polo tea blend. Too bad it’s not the right time for Afternoon Tea, but your next date could involve a return visit here.

Farmacy Ice Cream and Soda Fountain
26th Street and 4th Avenue
BGC Taguig City

Here’s a throwback to the turn of the 19th century, when people thought bubbles were a cure-all and the old pharmacy was a prime soda spot. While Farmacy’s wild array of sodas and homemade ice cream flavors won’t cure illness, they can potentially give you and your cherished one the warm fuzzies as you recall the night unfolding into a range of luscious possibilities…

Going back to desserts, Farmacy has a long dessert counter with an ancient-medicine cabinet, and the boys and girls create the ice cream in-house. Whether it’s Thick Milkshake with Malted Milk, Calamansi Sorbet, Old-Fashioned Banana Split, or Homemade Ginger Ale Soda that your heart yearns for, you’ve got a hand to hold beside you when making your final dessert pick becomes all too tough.

Lovestruck or not, single or in a relationship, we wish you plenty of dessert time and your own happy endings.
